Sam Azkul, MD, is a Druze American physician and human rights advocate committed to democracy, peace, women’s rights, and economic development. He is a strong supporter of the Druze community and a defender of minority rights, religious freedom, and pluralism. Dr. Azkul has a focused interest in U.S. national security and the protection of democratic institutions from jihadist and other extremist ideologies. He advocates for lawful, evidence-based strategies to counter radicalization, protect civil liberties, and prevent extremist influence on democratic processes. He currently presides over the American Alliance for a Democratic Syria and serves as a board member of Druze Nexus, which focuses on economic development in minority areas.
